Young People's Impact Statement

I want every new piece of Australian legislation to include a Young People's Impact Statement - so that impacts on young people now and in the future are considered in the legislation and regulations.

What does this mean?

It means taking a preventative approach to every new law - considering whether it will be good or bad for young people and future generations.

It also means taking a precautionary approach to every new law - considering what will happen if there are unexpected outcomes?

A Young People's Accountability Council will be an independent group of children, young people and their representatives who consider and advise on the impact of any new legislation on children.
